Hannah Carstens
Whale watching Guide
Hannah studied in Germany and holds a master’s degree in Conservation Biology. She always dreamed of protecting our oceans and its inhabitants. Her fascination for marine mammals led her to monitor dolphins in Wales and rehabilitate seals in the Netherlands. She enjoys sharing her passion for the marine environment with others whilst inspiring them to appreciate and engage with the amazing animals of our oceans as she does.
The vastness of the ocean has always had a calming effect on Hannah. Having whales and dolphins surfacing out of nowhere is her definition of magic. Spending her days on boats and enjoying marine mammals in their natural habitat, is a dream come true for Hannah. Outside of working hours, you will see her jumping into the water at every chance she gets.
Hannah discovered Lobosonda through the Responsible Whale Watching certification by the World Cetacean Alliance. As a conservation biologist, she finds responsible and wildlife friendly practices incredibly important. Working with a team that cares about the animals, makes sharing her excitement over the extraordinary ecology of whales and dolphins with our guests on board easy. Hannah adores seeing cetaceans out at sea, learning more about the different species every day.
Her fascination for orcas inspired Hannah to pursue a career in biology. She has loved these animals for so long which is why she will say these are her favourite cetacean. However, it is hard to pick favourites. She also loves humpback whales for their spectacular aerial displays and since her arrival she has started falling in love with the playful Atlantic spotted dolphins.
