We are the guests out there!

Our mission is to provide clients with a special experience, raising awareness and understanding of the entire marine biodiversity of Madeira. There is one rule that we always keep in mind: We are the guests out there, so we need to behave accordingly!

Lobosonda has been offering whale watching tours in the southwestern waters of Madeira Island since 2003. As a responsible whale watching company, we see our work as so much more than simply running a business.

Our Crew

Lobosonda started in the summer of 2003 as a family business with only 3 team members. As the years went by, our crew has expanded by several ocean-loving team members. May we introduce ourselves?

Madeira Island

Madeira was created millions of years ago as a result of a geological hotspot, and it was officially discovered in the year 1419 AD. The tallest mountain of Madeira is the Pico Ruivo at 1,861 m (1156.371 miles).

Hiking fans can enjoy adventures at the archipelago’s peaks as well as walks along the water canals, locally known as levadas. So what is keeping you at home?

Five-Star Reviews for One of the Top Activities in Calheta

"Dolphin Tour com a Stenella".

We had an excellent trip with the staff. We saw many striped dolphins, pilot whales, a small turtle and a jellyfish. You can learn a lot about these animals. The crew was friendly all the time and you felt safe in the ocean. We definitely recommend this trip.

"Professionalism".

Very good experience in the sea of calheta and surroundings, good recession on the part of the guide named Daniel. We started by going to meet dolphins where the guide received coordinates from land, let us say in passing that they were very efficient, it didn't take long and there they were. I loved the experience to repeat.

"Whale watching with Lobosonda".

Thank you again! It was wonderful! The kids are so excited and so are we :)))! And we lean over the ocean a lot! I hope to see you next time!

"Whale watching at its best".

Safety instructions, the German-speaking guide, the Save Zodiac, returns only after watching dolphins, as an unexpected extra, we saw tuna hunting small fish and sailing jellyfish.
