31.07.2017- Monday funday

We have all had that gloomy monday but, here at Lobosonda, it often turns out to be a day of surprises and blissful encounters. The snorkellers on this morning’s Stenella tour witnessed a small group of Atantic spotted dolphins feeding underwater. Cory’s shearwaters, as usual, also used the opportunity to get a mouthful and shot into the water for fish not far from us.

My day continued with another Stenella trip at noon and another at 18:00. These are two very different times of the day, when it comes to a variety of factors. One big difference were the conditions out at sea. At noon the wind was quite low and made it easy for us to spot several cetaceans and a frequent but special guest: a Loggerhead turtle. The turtle was peacefully floating at the water’s surface with a tern perched on its shell. We then met a school of Atlantic spotted dolphins before having a small group of Blainville’s beaked whales swim curiously close to our vessel. The guests aboard the evening trip experienced windier conditions but much more interactive spotted dolphins and, once again, we were able to observe a feeding.
